Meet Dr. Howard
Dr. Howard graduated summa cum laude from Brigham Young University and subsequently received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. He completed an ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Iowa, where he was recognized with awards for outstanding patient care.
While serving as a vitreoretinal fellow, he taught medical students and residents, and lectured extensively on vitreoretinal disease. Dr. Howard served for many years on the executive board of the Utah Ophthalmology Society and the Council of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the recipient of the Academy’s Achievement Award. He has been a principal investigator on a number of clinical trials and has authored several articles on a variety of eye conditions.
He has been an invited speaker at local, national, and international ophthalmology meetings. He was the first surgeon in Utah to implant the Port Delivery System. Dr. Howard has collaborated with LDS humanitarian services in establishing vitreoretinal surgery programs in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and rural Mexico. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the Utah Ophthalmology Society.
